JCL Associates, Inc. has developed a Rapid Application Development (RAD) method to assist clients in gathering and distributing information using Internet Technology. The RAD method produces a flexible yet powerful Web-enabled application to access existing SQL data, hybrid system data, legacy system data or new development data. Our strategy for the RAD method addresses the often requested data-driven web application by taking advantage of a flexible project model derived from the client’s database needs. We have found that traditional “Code Generators” and Application Wizards have fallen short, resulting in either a partially-generated application, which would require further manual development and maintenance, or an inflexible application lacking in functionality. The RAD method incorporates the flexibility to easily integrate the client’s business rules and a framework adhering to the client’s data definitions. In addition to developing new web applications using the RAD method, JCL has assembled a virtual library of sample applications. These fully functional samples may be used ‘as is’ or as a prototype for further customization. Our RAD method results in reduced development time, reduced testing time and provides a standardized and effortless methodology for implementing changes, enhancements and maintenance. Client benefits are twofold; a shorter development time, meaning a faster time to market, and a reduction in the time between new versions of the application, meaning the application can keep pace with the rapid changes and constant demands of the business environment.
